Over a year and a half ago the Major of Arezzo resigned to accept a higher position. And the office of Mayor remained open until the election on May 31st. There were two candidates for the position, corresponding, more or less, to the politics of Democrats and Republicans in our country 50 years ago. One candidate won by a 9% margin. But the election officials decided, based upon what no one seems to know, that this was too close to really decide the matter, so they have scheduled a re-election. Oh…and during the time the office of Mayor was empty, life went on for the people of Arezzo just as it did when there was a mayor!
Love,
Jim
