THE GLORIES OF PARIS

July 31, 2017 by Bonnie

Did you know the latest study on dementia says drink three glasses of champagne a day?! I’ve decided to be a good patient and follow doctor’s orders. I do NOT want dementia. This blog is our memory book of our journey and when I look back at myself I want to be able to recognize that fatty as me. True, I’ll be bummed out by the sight of myself, but at least I’ll remember myself and know why I became a blimp and alcoholic.

We’re dog-less. The most adorable young woman, Julie, a “pro” picked them up and off they went to spend the week with her. I hope they don’t act crazy. They don’t handle separation well! But it was the ONLY way for us to detour to London and how can we come to Europe and NOT go to London. Plus we have tickets for “The Ferryman” which I’m DYING. to see.

Jim really suffers from separation from the pups. He’s actually worse than I am. He won’t let me mention them or look at their pictures. Our unborn children are so lucky. We would’ve fucked them up so badly! Just the world needs. More fucked up people. So our contribution was abstaining from pro-creation.

It is really hard not to drop a bundle of euros here. The sales are beyond belief. Although the dollar has dropped against the Euro and the pound. Nobody wants our shitty dollars. They know the US is is one small step away from spiraling into chaos.

Our friend, Nicole Jackson, a wonderful journalist is visiting for 24 hours from London. We had a lovely lunch and after wandering around the Louvre grounds, went off to the Pompidou Center and saw the David Hockney exhibit. It was a terrific exhibit, beginning with his earliest work and going to his most contemporary work, including his use of his iPad in his latest paintings.

When we went to lunch Nicole commented on the snooty attitude of the waiter. But when he came outside to wait on us and saw our anti-Trump buttons, he completely changed! Nicole was an eye witness to the power of the button!!  You too can have this power by ordering your anti-Trump gear from CafePress.com

The overall best thing about Paris is the street scene. I don’t just mean the musicians or the cafes, it’s the ALL of it. Wherever you look you see something extraordinary. You don’t even need to enter a museum to feel as if you’ve seen Paris (although I certainly recommend the spectacular museums. Wherever your eye happens to fall will bring you joy.I don’t know how many cities you can say that about.

We also visited the Modern Museum and the Petite Palais which is unbelievably gorgeous inside and out, so take a peak at some of those pictures below.

It’s hard to believe that all this will soon come to an end and life will go back to “normal” whatever that means.

Love the juxtaposition of the painting and the sculpture.
