PERFECTLY PARIS

July 26, 2017 by Bonnie 4 Comments

PARIS! It’s simply unreal. It’s so user friendly. So welcoming. So what a city should be like. No matter how many times I’ve been here it always feels like the first time because I’m so blown away. Is there any city in the world as beautiful? And the pride the citizens take in their city is evident EVERYWHERE. This morning I took the dogs for a walk and passed a small cafe where a man was shining the window casing! Something most people wouldn’t even notice. But he was polishing it as if the Queen of England was going to run her white glove over it.

Last night we walked across the Pont de Neuf to see the lights of the city. Again, something we’ve seen before but it didn’t matter. Every time is like the first time.

We spent the day at Musee d’Orsay. Forget the fantastic art, the building itself is drop dead gorgeous. And the amount of art is staggering. And it’s a fraction of the size of the Louvre. There was a special exhibition of Cezanne portraits. Cezanne isn’t known for his portraits and they’re rarely displayed so this was a real treat – especially since I’m so interested in painting portraits myself.

And of course we were continually approached in the Museum because of our anti-Trump buttons. Last night walking home, people shouted out from cafes “NO TRUMP” as we walked by. I’m going to say it and be very unpopular I’m sure, but I don’t give a shit that McCain has brain cancer. It’s okay for him to get quality healthcare but I don’t hear him speaking out demanding that the rest of America gets the same quality of care. FUCK HIM! Everybody gets all sentimental when these SOB’s get sick. WHY? They’re bastards. Illness doesn’t make them nice guys. My well of sympathy is very shallow. Every day I walk by migrants forced to flee their own countries because of war, living on the streets with their babies. They get my sympathy (and, my money). John Bloody McCain and the rest of the Republicans can drop dead.

We’re surrounded by art galleries. I’ve never seen so many art galleries. Paintings, sculptures, furniture, etc that are so unbelievably expensive – and there are countless numbers of them. It boggles my mind. And the chocolate shops. I’ve stayed away from them, just stared through the windows like a hungry child.

I have an ear worm that keeps repeating the song “I Love Paris.” And I do. Madly. Deeply. Profoundly.

Here are some bits from the Musee d’Orsay. It suddenly dawned on me that I didn’t take any pics of the magnificent exterior! And…Paris at night as the lights came on. Soooo romantic!

Musee d’Orsay
The portrait by Cezanne was used to promote the exhibition. I adore it.

A few outdoor sculptures

LOVE this clock. This museum is spectacular. Maybe my favorite.

Feel head over heels in love with this chair and fabric. Unfortunately it wasn’t for sale at any price!

I, too, love the chair. What more can you say about it? How old? Wood? Gorgeous.
