Dear Friends:
My favorite monologist, Spaulding Grey, spoke of “perfect moments”. Well, I just had one. I was sitting by a branch of the river that makes the property we are living on an island, and watching the sun set over the fields of southern France. The beauty: the bird song, the colors of the sunset, Bonnie and the dogs running wild as they in the grass behind me…all combined to give me this perfect moment. Ah,”what a lucky man I am!
Ron, et al: An important contributing factor to my perfect moment was smoking one of the cigars you kindly left for me. A terrific cigar, by the way. And dunking it in, and sipping sips of the old port, left to me after our wonderful time together in Spain, was the perfect touch.
I’ve fallen madly in love wth France, a country I discarder in the past as over-hypeded, but what I’ve now discovered to possess so much beauty, and such friendly people, and old ruins, and magical villages, and 19,000 thousand year old caves, and amazing food, and even more amazing vistas.
Anyway, just to let you know how happy I am, how much I wish you were all here with me, and to say,
Love,
Jim

So happy you have a chance to do this Jim.
It stopped raining here finally and I took a walk down the road on my doctors advice. Then sat under the willow tree by the pound. Blue sky. White clouds. Everything else very green. Heidi agreed to do the radio show a couple of weeks in a row a cappella so I get to stay here until the next surgeon appointment June 21. I should be back to normal by then, although this was more than I had anticipated. Anyway, I bought a bottle of local gym and since it is after 5 o’clock I’ll make a martini and think of you.
Love,
Michael
PS: after striking out at three liquor stores Ibfinally found a bottle of cardinal Mendoza Brandy. Between the Jen and the Brandy the surgery isn’t so bad.
Dear Jim, what a perfect description of being in the moment. So happy for you and Bonnie. Loving the photos. Makes me want to jump right into them!
Love to you both, Helene
I am loving this vicariously and wishing you both (and the doggies) many more of these “perfect moments.” If only the world would have some too!
❤️♥️
Wow.
Extraordinary.
Perfect description of the perfect moment. I guess I’ll have to reconsider my ideas about France. So happy that you both have this time together. The photos look like paintings. Wow is right. xox.
